Father's Side: Ashkenazi Jewish Heritage

Samuel's father, Jacob Pechenik, is a film and television producer of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Ashkenazi Jews are those whose ancestors lived in Central and Eastern Europe (Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, etc.) before the modern era. They represent the majority of the world's Jewish population and are the predominant Jewish heritage in the United States.

Jacob Pechenik's family background traces to Eastern European Jewish communities — the shtetl and urban Jewish communities of 19th and early 20th century Eastern Europe that saw millions emigrate to the United States, particularly between 1880 and 1924 (the era of peak Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe). This heritage gives Samuel a strong Ashkenazi Jewish identity through his father.

Jacob has produced various independent films and television projects, working largely behind the scenes of the entertainment industry.
